Musashi International School Tokyo (MIST) — Kinder Campus / Mitaka
MIST’s separate Mitaka Kinder campus offers K3 and K4 through Cambridge Early Years, combining structured learning with play and inquiry. Mommy and Me is parent-accompanied, not regular independent childcare.
Admissions & ages
K3/K4 children must be 3/4 by September 1. K3 entrants must be out of nappies. Kinder English checks identify support needs and, the school says, do not determine admission. Parents need not speak English. Admissions are rolling, subject to vacancies, application documents and an educational assessment; nationality and passport rules need confirmation.
Curriculum & language
Kinder describes an English-learning environment, supported by school-wide confirmation that core lessons and communication use English. Extended care continues in English. A separate Kinder Japanese class has not been confirmed. K4 leads towards Year 1 at the main campus, an age-5 stage rather than Japanese primary Grade 1; English requirements and possible paid support mean progression is not unconditional.
Schedule & care
Kinder runs 8:10–14:15, with extended care until 17:00. Minimum weekly attendance and the complete current holiday calendar are unconfirmed. Seasonal camps are separate programmes.
Campus & daily life
Kinder is at 2F, 4-15-41 Shimorenjaku, Mitaka, separate from the main school and the different programme downstairs. A Kinder-specific walking time has not been verified. Bus routes are published, but campus stops, ages, journeys and current prices need checking. Families can order optional FCN lunches directly from the supplier; packed-lunch and allergy arrangements are unclear.
Fees & extras
The 2026–27 public calculator estimates new-pupil Kinder charges: annual tuition JPY 1,567,000; registration JPY 200,000; entry JPY 150,000; building development JPY 210,000; maintenance JPY 120,000; parent association JPY 5,000. These total JPY 2,252,000 as a calculator estimate, not a formal or all-inclusive fee schedule. Application fees are excluded; meals, buses, extended care, uniforms and additional English support are not priced. The linked detailed schedule was not obtained, so charge frequency beyond stated annual tuition/new-pupil scope, tax, instalments and refunds remain unconfirmed.
Support & eligibility
Kinder’s precise address matches ordinary childcare-fee support and Tokyo standards-certificate records for an unlicensed facility; household approval remains necessary. Mitaka also names it in a separate scheme: Mitaka resident registration at the month’s start, having reached age 3, paid fees and no ordinary facility-benefit certification are among the conditions. There is no income limit. The monthly ceiling is JPY 20,000, capped by actual payments, with prior registration; it cannot be promised or stacked with the ordinary route. Confirm birthday/year-group edge cases.
