Kodomo Go!

OUR STORY

Spend a little less time searching. Spend a little more time together.

Raising a child in Tokyo often means searching for the next answer.

Where should we go this weekend? What might my child enjoy learning? What should we do over the summer?

Kodomo Go! began with the same questions we were already asking as parents.

01 / HOW IT STARTED

At first, we were simply searching for our own family.

Every weekend, we would look for somewhere to take our child.

A science museum. An art exhibition. A park. A workshop.

As children grow, the list grows with them: sports, music, English, coding and other classes.

Then summer comes, and we start looking for camps, short programs and experiences worth trying while travelling.

When it is time to think about schools, an entirely new search begins.

Tokyo has no shortage of choices.

The difficult part is finding and understanding them.

Information is scattered across venue websites, school pages, ward announcements, social media and booking platforms.

Even after finding something interesting, parents often still need to check the age range, price, reservation requirements and whether it is actually still running.

We were already doing all of this for our own family.

So we began with a simple thought:

If we are going to do the research anyway, why not share what we find with other families raising children in Tokyo?

That was the beginning of Kodomo Go!.

02 / WHAT WE BELIEVE

A child's world is bigger than the classroom.

Academic learning matters.

But we do not believe that grades and classrooms are the only places where children grow.

The first look through a microscope. An afternoon completely absorbed in drawing. Moving to music. Finding an unfamiliar insect in the woods. Making something with their own hands. Discovering another language or culture.

Small experiences like these gradually make a child's world bigger.

No one knows in advance what a child will truly fall in love with.

That is why we want to show them as many good doors as we can.

Kodomo Go! is not only about experiences that improve academic performance.

We care about something broader:

Finding one more thing a child loves. Making their world a little bigger than it was yesterday.

03 / WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Not more choices. Better reasons to spend a family's time.

Tokyo offers an enormous number of family events and experiences every week.

Our goal is not to list all of them.

A family's weekend is limited.

Will a child genuinely enjoy it? Could it spark a new interest? Is it worth spending half a day, or an entire day, together?

Those are the questions we try to ask.

Science, art, music, sports, nature, culture, coding and cooking.

There is no single category we are looking for.

It can be free or paid. It can be famous or a small neighborhood event.

If it looks capable of becoming meaningful time for a child, we think it deserves attention.

And if the information cannot be properly verified, or registration has already closed, we do not add it simply to make the site look bigger.

For us, being easier to choose from matters more than having more.

04 / FOR INTERNATIONAL FAMILIES

Making family life in Tokyo a little easier to understand.

Kodomo Go! is also for families already living in Tokyo and families just beginning their life here.

Raising children in a new city brings a long list of questions.

Where should we live? Which school should our child attend? Where should we go on weekends? How should we spend the long school holidays?

For families whose first language is not Japanese, Japan can offer excellent choices while still making those choices surprisingly difficult to discover.

That is why Kodomo Go! is gradually expanding beyond events and places.

We also organize information about schools, learning, school holidays and practical guides for international family life in Tokyo.

It is also why the site is available in Japanese, Chinese, English and Korean.

Wherever a family comes from, we want Tokyo to feel a little easier to explore together.

05 / HOW WE WORK

AI helps us search. People still make the final choice.

Kodomo Go! uses AI to help us work through large amounts of official information more efficiently.

But we do not simply publish whatever AI finds.

Whenever possible, we go back to the official source and check details such as age, date, price and reservation requirements.

Then we ask one final question:

Would we want to show this to our own children?

Technology can help us search faster.

But deciding what is worth a family's time is still a human decision.

FOR THE WEEKEND AHEAD

Where should we go this weekend?

A weekend does not have to be perfect. A place does not have to be famous.

Maybe a child discovers one thing they had never seen before.

Maybe they spend the whole day exploring and fall asleep on the ride home.

If families can have a few more days like that, we think that is enough.

Spend a little less time searching.

Use that time to be together.

That is what we want Kodomo Go! to help families do.
