Tokyo International School Kindergarten (TIS Group) — Nakameguro Kindergarten
This TIS Group kindergarten offers KG1–KG3, approximately ages 3–6. It is not TIS main school’s Kindergarten; that relationship does not establish the same school entity or transfer IB/CIS accreditation.
Admissions & ages
2026 KG1 covers births 2022-04-02–2023-04-01. The published 2027 KG1–KG3 range is 2021-04-02–2024-04-01. Grade-based interpretation gives KG1: 2023-04-02–2024-04-01; KG2: 2022-04-02–2023-04-01; KG3: 2021-04-02–2022-04-01. A regular 2-year-old class is unconfirmed. Year-round applications depend on vacancies, with parent interview and child observation/trial. Younger applicants and parents need no prior English; bilingual staff help Japanese-speaking parents. English checks apply from KG2’s 3rd term. Published tours ended 2026-10-09; later dates are unknown.
Curriculum & language
English supports theme-based mathematics, science, arts, social studies, personal development, play and literacy. Group policy specifies English throughout daily conversation and core lessons, without Japanese lessons in core/extended hours. Optional gymnastics and musical-theatre classes start after 14:00; their teaching languages are unverified.
